The previous iteration of the MG4 saw great success, but the upcoming model represents a significant evolution. This new electric vehicle boasts larger dimensions and a lengthier wheelbase compared to its predecessor. Although interior images remain elusive, the exterior redesign is striking.
Hailing from a brand that has made waves internationally, the new MG4 showcases a complete overhaul, rather than just minor updates. This revamped model is longer, wider, and taller than the original, with a noticeably extended wheelbase. The front fascia, in particular, displays a departure from the sharp lines of the past, now featuring more curves and creases.
Noteworthy changes to the rear end include a sleek light bar, distinctive taillights, and a modified bumper. Drawing inspiration from the Cyberster, the MG4’s rear lights sport an arrow-shaped lighting signature. Further enhancements include redesigned door skins and the introduction of new wheel sizes.
Under the hood, the new MG4 packs a 161 hp electric motor, enabling a top speed of 99 mph. This represents a slight dip in power compared to its predecessor, which had a 168 hp motor but also weighed more. There are also whispers of a dual-motor XPower variant on the horizon.
While the current MG4 remains a common sight on roads globally, its popularity has waned in its home market of China. After a strong start in mid-2022, sales plummeted in early 2023, with a mere 13 units sold in February. Despite this, the new MG4 appears poised to continue the brand’s legacy of innovative electric vehicles.
